Water
The automated water treatment plant is located 13 kilometres east of the City where it draws water from Coal Lake. The water is then piped into the City reservoirs for distribution. The water treatment plant is designed to provide 50% increase in volume over present use.

Solid Waste & Recycling
Solid Waste
The City of Wetaskiwin collects solid waste from local residential customers. Commercial customers deal directly with the approved waste collection company based on rates agreed to between the City and the approved waste contractor. The City of Wetaskiwin also owns and operates the sanitary landfill.

Recycling
The City operates a recycling centre (5707 - 51 Street, Wetaskiwin) that will accept many items, including paper, cardboard, glass, household plastics, tin cans, etc.

Natural Gas
In Alberta, under competitive retail service, you can choose to purchase your natural gas from a variety of competitive retailers. You and the retailer of your choice may enter into a contract for the type and length of energy service you want. The regulated distribution company for your area will then deliver the energy to you. Contract charges are not regulated, but competitive retailers are licensed by Service Alberta under the Fair Trading Act. Service Alberta reviews the companies' retail contracts before granting the license to offer competitive natural gas service. The Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) regulates natural gas in Alberta and sets rates based on supply and demand.

The City of Wetaskiwin issues sewer usage charges to all properties connected to the City's sewer system, or that have septic or sewer holding tanks within City limits that deposit the waste to the City of Wetaskiwin Sewage Treatment Facility.
