Home Support Services

Home Support Program

The Home Support program assists seniors to live as independently as possible in their own home in the community. The Home Support program is made up of Housekeeping Service and Meals on Wheels. Through both of these programs, the FCSS Coordinator and Home Support staff are able to help connect our clients to other needed community services and supports.

Housekeeping Service is designed for senior citizens and disabled people who wish to remain in their homes but require assistance. The service includes light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, washing floors, cleaning the bathroom, and changing the bed. The cost for service is based on the clients annual household income on a sliding fee scale.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is a joint community service project. Volunteer drivers deliver hot and nutritious full-course meals to clients during the lunch hour from Monday through Friday. The client may choose which days of the week they would like to receive meals. These well-balanced meals are provided at a reasonable cost to the client. This program is ideal for seniors who have limited mobility or who may have been recently discharged from the hospital.

How do I receive Home Support Service?

A simple call to our FCSS office at (780) 361-4425 will get you started. If you are interested in the Housekeeping Service, our FCSS staff will make an appointment with you for a home visit. At your home visit, they will discuss with you what the cost will be and answer any other questions you may have.

To access Meals on Wheels, you or a family member will need to come to the FCSS office (Third Floor, 4705 - 50 Avenue) to set up the service.

On a short-term basis, Home Support Services can also help people who have just been discharged from hospital and need extra help while recuperating at home.
